Twin roof gutter heating cable 30W/m – against ice, snow and icicles
The Mi-Heat heating cable in twin design is the ideal solution for the electrical heating of roof drainage systems when particular flexibility and a precise fit are required. Unlike pre-assembled heating elements, the loose heating cable can be laid individually and is therefore ideal for complex routes and winding areas. Typical locations for use are gutters, downpipes, eaves, roof valleys and other drains and drainage points. The aim is to reliably prevent the formation of ice and snow as well as icicles so that water can drain away in a controlled manner and damage caused by icing – e.g. blocked drains or burst pipes – is reduced.
Installation is carried out using separately available fastening tape or suitable holders, which securely fix the heating cable at defined intervals. This allows the cable to be neatly adapted to the length of the gutter, corners, drainage points and downpipe areas – even with angled transitions. The fastening ensures that the cable remains reliably in position and that heat is evenly distributed where icing typically occurs.
Technically, the system operates at 30 W per metre, making it easy to plan the total power required based on the cable length. The heating cable is robustly designed for typical outdoor conditions, UV-resistant and constructed for long-term use in cold, damp environments. It is important to lay the cable correctly in accordance with the installation instructions – in particular, heating cables must not be crossed or overlapped so that the heat is distributed evenly and local overheating is avoided.
Thanks to twin technology, the forward and return conductors are integrated into the same heating cable, so that the electrical connection is only made at one end. This simplifies installation and makes laying the cable much easier, even for longer gutter sections or downpipe runs. For efficient operation, we recommend an external thermostat with a temperature and humidity sensor, which only switches on when there is an actual risk of icing or snowfall, thus avoiding unnecessary energy consumption.
