Self-Limiting Ex Heating Cable 30 W/m for Industrial Pipe Trace Heating
The HTS EX self-limiting heating cable has been developed for demanding industrial pipe trace heating applications and use under challenging environmental conditions. Its suitability for appropriately designed explosion-protected applications is a key feature: the heating cable is approved according to ATEX and IECEx and is classified in ATEX temperature class T3.
This makes the HTS EX suitable for industrial applications where reliable heating, increased explosion protection requirements and high temperature resistance are essential. Its specific suitability for the relevant Ex zone and installation must be verified on the basis of the complete Ex marking, the system design and the required connection components.
The self-regulating heating matrix automatically adjusts the heat output to the ambient temperature. When the temperature drops, the heat output increases. As the temperature rises, the output is automatically reduced. This supports energy-efficient and reliable frost protection as well as dependable temperature maintenance on pipes.
With a nominal output of 30 W/m at 10 °C, the heating cable is suitable both for installation on the outside of pipes and for installation inside suitable pipe systems. The durable fluoropolymer outer jacket allows use under high temperature and environmental requirements. The maximum permissible cable temperature is 150 °C when energized and 200 °C when de-energized.
For controlled and economical operation, regulation via a suitable thermostat with a temperature sensor matched to the application is recommended.

Example: An order quantity of 30 units corresponds to a delivery of 30 metres of heating cable in one continuous length.
The HTS EX heating cable is not supplied ready for connection. Suitable connection and end termination components, as well as a thermostat if required, are necessary for operation.
In hazardous areas, only project-specific approved ATEX system components may be used. Planning, heating circuit design, connection and installation must be carried out by appropriately qualified professionals.
Suitability for the relevant Ex zone, gas or dust group, temperature class and installation must be fully verified before installation. When installed inside a pipe, compatibility with the pipe material, conveyed medium and intended operating conditions must also be ensured.
The stated maximum heating circuit lengths apply at a switch-on temperature of -10 °C and with protection provided by a 16 A Type C circuit breaker. At lower switch-on temperatures, the inrush current increases.
