Stretch ceiling heating systems – combining modern stretch ceilings with efficient infrared heating films

Holistic room solutions – invisible heat sources for stylish room concepts
Stretch ceilings have been growing in popularity for years – they create smooth, seamless surfaces, allow for a wide range of designs, and give every room a modern, elegant look. They are suitable for both private living areas and prestigious business premises, making them a design element that perfectly combines functionality and aesthetics.
Mi-Heat high-end heating films are the perfect addition to this concept. These powerful infrared heating films are integrated directly behind the stretch ceiling and remain invisible in the room. Their warming effect is immediately noticeable: the heating films emit uniform radiant heat, which is distributed throughout the room in a similar way to sunlight, creating a cozy atmosphere.
The big advantage lies in the complete freedom of design. Since neither radiators nor visible heat sources are required, all wall and floor space remains free. Furniture, furnishings, or decorative elements can be placed without restriction. For stretch ceiling installers in particular, this opens up the possibility of offering their customers a holistic solution that combines modern design with contemporary heating comfort.

Infrared heat - benefits for customers and installation companies
The infrared radiant heat generated differs significantly from traditional convection heating. It does not primarily heat the air in the room, but rather directly heats surfaces, objects, and people. This creates a uniform, pleasant room climate without noticeable air circulation.
Another advantage is that no dust is stirred up – a noticeable benefit for allergy sufferers or people who attach particular importance to a healthy living environment.
Installation companies also benefit from the technology. The heating films are electrically operated and require neither piping nor complex heating installations. This means they can be installed quickly, cleanly, and with minimal construction effort. In many projects, integration can be achieved within a single working day, which both saves costs and increases customer satisfaction.
Additional value is provided by the flexible control system. Heated areas can be controlled by zone - for example, only seating or lounge areas, individual room zones, or entire rooms. The system can be operated using both classic room thermostats and modern smart home solutions. Customers thus receive a system that adapts to their individual needs and is also efficient in operation.
Innovative - The technology behind Mi-Heat high-end heating films
The heating films used have been specially developed for installation in ceilings and walls. With a power density of 150 to 200 W/m², they are suitable for use as both supplementary and full-fledged primary heating, depending on the heating load of the building.
They can be installed either directly on the existing ceiling or on battens. Especially in energy-intensive properties, battens offer the additional advantage that the spaces between them can be filled with a layer of mineral wool insulation. This reduces heat loss to the ceiling and further improves the overall efficiency of the heating system.
A key unique selling point is the carbon nanotube technology used. Unlike standard heating films with PTC technology, it enables additional efficiency gains, more even heat distribution, and increased operational safety and resilience.
Thanks to the six-layer composite and triple insulation, the heating films are particularly robust and durable. The active heating surface is approximately 96% – a value made possible by the narrow edge area. In combination with nanotube technology, this ensures a fast warm-up time and an even surface temperature across the entire area.
This provides installers with high-quality heating films that are impressive in terms of both technology and safety and can be ideally integrated behind stretch ceilings.

Electric surface heating—planning, design, and installation in practice
Careful planning plays a crucial role in successful implementation. First, the heating load of the respective room should be determined in order to calculate the required surface area. Thanks to the high power density, partial surface coverage is often sufficient, for example above seating or lounge areas.
During installation, it is important to distribute the films evenly and avoid overlapping to prevent hot spots. Sensor cables and power cables should always be routed through separate corrugated pipes so that they can be replaced if necessary. It is equally important to position the temperature sensors correctly so that the control system records representative values. Electrical connections must always be carried out by a specialist company. The switching capacities of the thermostats used must be taken into account – for larger areas, the use of a relay or contactor is recommended.
One particular aspect concerns installation in damp rooms. This is governed by the DIN VDE 0100-701 standard, which regulates the division into protection zones. When installed at a height of ≥ 2.25 m above the floor, Mi-Heat High End heating films are located in protection zone 3. In this zone, there are no additional requirements for safety extra-low voltage (SELV) or an increased IP protection class. This means that the heating films can also be used safely and in accordance with standards as ceiling heating in bathrooms.
Compared to visible heating panels, heating films score points above all for their complete invisibility and homogeneous heat emission over the entire surface, while heating panels are somewhat more flexible when retrofitting without ceiling conversion.
Strong partnership – sales arguments and services for retailers
For installers, heating films behind stretch ceilings not only offer technical added value, but also a strong sales argument. End customers increasingly value solutions that combine comfort, design, and energy efficiency. The immediately noticeable, even infrared heat creates a pleasant feel-good climate, while the clean room environment without dust swirls is particularly appealing to allergy sufferers. In addition, there is complete freedom of design in the interior, as neither radiators nor other visible heat sources restrict the space. In this way, projects can be positioned not only as high-quality, but also as sustainable and modern solutions – a decisive competitive advantage.
Mi-Heat supports specialist companies with attractive purchasing conditions and practical technical advice. Right from the early planning stage, we help with correct calculations, selecting the right products, and designing surface areas and control systems. Our specialist advisors are also available to answer detailed questions about installation, such as substructures or insulation options. Resellers and installers thus receive a comprehensive service package that ensures reliability in implementation and reduces effort.
The result: Specialist companies can offer their customers not only a modern, invisibly integrated heating system, but also a convincing price-performance ratio. This allows orders to be carried out professionally and long-term customer relationships to be established.
